Trabzon City Tour. Depart from the hotel and explore the coastal city of Trabzon. The city has lived under the reign of many civilisations throughout centuries, until it eventually became a city of the Republic of Turkey when it was founded in 1923. Byzantine and Ottoman monuments sit side by side along cobble stone streets. The historical Hagia Sophia Church with its splendid frescos was built in the 13th century during the reign of King Manuel I. After Sultan Mehmet II conquered the city in 1461, the Church was converted into a Mosque and its frescos covered in whitewash. Enjoy a short orientation walk around the city and explore the history of Trabzon whilst leaving time for local shopping. Proceed to Uzungol, a picturesque lake surrounded by thick woods. Explore the region at your leisure with a short nature walk observing the beautiful flora and landscape. Drive back to Trabzon where the tour ends and transfer to your accommodation.
