Latin Empire (1204 –1261), and Ottoman Empire (1453–1922).[5] It was conducive in the rise of Christianity during Roman and Byzantine ages, before the Ottomans conquered the city in 1453. And transformed it into an Islamic haven. Though the Republic of Turkey established its capital in Ankara, palaces, and royal mosques still line Istanbul’s hills as obvious reminders of the city’s previous principal role.

    Tour Itinerary

    Formerly the residence of Ottoman Sultans, the large grounds exhibit many wonderful examples of its past. Guests will visit the Imperial Depository, view holy Islamic ruins, the palace kitchen, along with viewing various Chinese ceramics, defenses, and calligraphy performance.
    The Rüstem Pasha Mosque was devised by Ottoman royal architect Mimar Sinan for Grand Vizier Damat Rüstem Pasha (husband of one of Princess Mihrimah) the daughters of Suleiman, the Magnificent. Rüstem Pasha died in July 1561; the mosque built after his death.
