Kaya Guide

KAYA

The valley behind Fethiye ensures a cooler climate and evocative ruins that are different from their ancient equivalents on the Mediterranean coast. Kaya was a thriving Greek village until 1923 when the villagers were moved out in a mandatory population exchange that saw Greek Orthodox Christians living in Turkey removed from their homes. Now it's an overgrown ghost town, with some beautiful settlement on the edges. Several hotels and open-air restaurants are scattered among the olive trees.
