CUNDA ISLAND (ALI BEY ADASI)

CUNDA ISLAND (ALI BEY ADASI)

Like Ayvalık, Cunda Island was once pre-dominantly Greek, and some Greek is still talked here. The island has a mix of the two cultures in its music, food, and nightlife, and lately has been carefully developing this, having realized the tourism potential. There’s an increasing number of cafés, bakeries, bars, and small restaurants in the beautiful cobbled backstreets away from the sea, which are full of old Greek houses in many states of repair. At the top of the hill, the "Nostaljik Café" at the small Sevim and Necdet Kent Library (look for the stone windmill) is open 9:30 to 9:30 daily and has excellent views.
